Description of the project:

given the openness, the indirect views and the elegance of a detached house.

The alignment of 6 austere volumes with two floors effected this idea. Open staircases between the volumes generate a view on the green inner courtyard.

Cut-outs in the volumes enhance contact with the exterior space at the back.

Windows facing ‘alleys’ where the outer staircases are placed, bring light from the morning sun and the evening sun inside and visually connect this space with the dwelling.

The living area is situated at the rear south side. The sleeping area is found at the quiet north side up front.  Between the two a service area is integrated. In the apartments on the first floor – both in the service area and the sleeping area, southern light is gathered through a vertical skylight.

With the alleys, the vertical skylight in the middle of the upper floors and the close vicinity of the pond out on the balcony, the dwellings escape from the almost typical crampedness of many social housing projects. The dwellings are perceived rather spacious despite the rigorous area standards.

The volumes are diversified by their cladding: pre-weathered zinc, natural colored zinc and a red brick volume with matching roof tiles. Semi-underground parking area is placed under the building. Because of his openness the parking area with storeroom is bathed in light and air, you also can catch a glimpse of the green surroundings and reed pond.
